Completion of public realm lighting at the British Museum

The British Museum south forecourt after dark

Nex has completed the renewal of the external lighting across the British Museum's South Forecourt, East Road and West Road, switched on in June 2026. The scheme replaces mismatched fittings with a single warm, even quality of light across one of London's most significant civic settings, with fixing and fittings designed to minimise impact on the historic fabric.

The project was designed with Steensen Varming, lighting & services design; Conisbee, structural engineer; Currie & Brown, cost and contract administration; and L&B, contractor. A full project page will follow.
